8 Past Viral Megastars And What They Are Doing Now

The Internet has created a new type of fame where anything and anyone can instantly go viral. Some people have become unexpected Internet sensations due to:

  • YouTube videos
  • Interviews
  • Social media posts

However, viral success has a high turnover rate as it doesn’t take long for the next big thing to take over the Internet.

Here are 8 past viral megastars and what happened to them after their 15 minutes of fame:

1. Chris Crocker

He made a dramatic plea for the world to leave Britney Spears alone in a video uploaded to YouTube on September 10th, 2007. The video, ‘Leave Britney Alone!,’ was one of the fastest climbing videos on the site at the time and made Crocker an instant internet sensation.

Ever since the viral video, Crocker has continued to have a heavy social media presence and has even recorded an album, written an autobiographical comic strip and appeared in multiple music videos. However, Crocker has revealed that his viral fame has hurt his chances of ever becoming a mainstream actor.
